IAH Terminal B Transformation Project

This $2.5 billion+ Terminal B transformation at IAH, led by United Airlines, is a major redevelopment creating a 765,000 square feet north concourse, 22 new gates, and a new central processor, with completion slated for late 2026. The check-in lobby was closed as of Jan 2025, requiring passengers to check in at Terminal C during construction.

The project began in 2024 and is expected to finish by Fall 2026. The main Terminal B check-in lobby, TSA checkpoint, and baggage claim closed on January 21, 2025, to facilitate expansion. During this time, passengers are redirected to Terminal C for check-in and security. Gates B3-B31 remain open and functional for United flights throughout the project. The project includes a 250,000 square feet expansion and renovations of 275,000 square feet, resulting in larger, more modern check-in and security areas. The expansion will feature a 54,000 square feet United Club (slated to be the largest in their network), interactive play areas, and improved concessions.

The project aims to significantly increase passenger capacity and comfort at IAH, reducing the bottlenecks associated with the old, smaller terminal design.
