Project

El Paso Renovation

El Paso Corporation’s headquarters in downtown Houston underwent a complete renovation beginning in 2008. The 32-story building had the distinction of being the first total renovation of an occupied building.

The scope of work had to be completed without disrupting day-to-day business for El Paso Corp. The project was divided into eight phases, and tiered to complete one to four levels at a time. As one phase finished, employees were moved to the completed areas in order to vacate the next four levels scheduled for renovation. Temporary plumbing and air/exhaust lines were constructed to continue water and air conditioning service to occupied parts of the building as the new mechanical and plumbing systems were installed. El Paso’s headquarters also boasts a 20,000-square-foot Data Center to support offshore refineries. MLN installed 13 Liebert units that combine for 390 tons of air conditioning.
