Centerpoint Energy

  • Houston, Texas 1111 Louisiana

A comprehensive renovation project in downtown Houston provides a view of the potential of thermal storage for building comfort control, along with other energy and structural innovations.

The 47-story, 1.5-million-square-foot building built in 1972 was acquired in 1994 by the parent of an electric utility serving much of the Texas Gulf Coast. The structure offered an excellent opportunity to showcase energy-conservation techniques for building retrofits. MLN installed an HVAC system that handles the needs of a very large and thoroughly modern office building in a way that embraces Intelligent Building design.
